Some folks would argue that the Winchester 9422M might be the best Winchester lever action ever made. It’s an argument that probably has some merit. This beautiful consignment rifle comes to us as a great example of this model. Serial number is F722284. The serial on the receiver and the lever match. Winchester rimfires aren’t always easy to come up with a specific date of manufacture but our research indicates that this is likely a 1972 model.
Our model has the standard 20.5 inch barrel. The magazine tube is brass. Sights are an adjustable semi-buckhorn on the rear and a hooded front sight. The lever is the standard size. The stock is a checkered straight grip. Although it’s not readily apparent, these models are takedowns as well. There is no manual safety, the half cock position of the hammer functions as the safety.
Action on the rifle is smooth. The trigger is light and clean. Bore is very clean and the barrel is bright. The wood is in overall Excellent condition, although some light storage marks can be seen on the buttstock. The right forearm also has one light scuff. The Winchester buttpad is in Excellent condition. The blued surfaces are in Very Good condition. The left side of the receiver an area of some finish loss and that can be seen in the photos.
Our customer bought this New In Box at an estate sale and put less than a box of ammo through it before putting it away. Beautiful condition, the popular 22 Mag version, very lightly used, a great reputation for reliability and just all around fun to shoot. It’s not that difficult to understand the folks that argue for this being the best lever ever!
Purchase is for the rifle only. No other accessories are included in the sale.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this rifle. We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the rifle.
