From 1939 until 1955, Winchester produced the Model 74 rifle. Originally, it was offered only in .22 Short, the .22 Long Rifle version was added in 1940. Our consignment rifle wears serial number 107668, which would indicate production in 1941.
The tubular magazine is loaded from the rear of the buttstock and will hold up to 14 rounds.
A cross-bolt safety sits at the top rear of the receiver. The open rear sight is adjustable, while the front sight is a fixed bead.
The smooth walnut pistol grip stock is in Excellent or better condition. It has a good finish and an absence of scratches. The metal finish is in Very Good condition. There is some finish loss at the rear of the receiver and there is very minor pitting on the right side of the receiver. Most of the finish on the barrel is intact with very small, very minor areas where the finish is worn. The under side of the trigger guard does show finish loss. The bore is very nice on the rifle.
These rifles are fun to shoot and easy to operate. They also have a well-deserved reputation for accuracy. For a vintage, 80 year old rifle, you’d be hard pressed to find one in nicer condition that this!
Purchase is for the rifle only. No other accessories are included.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this rifle. We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the rifle.
