This absolutely beautiful, big bore, Near Mint rifle comes to us as a consignment sale.  Our customer purchased this about two years ago prior to going on a hunt in Africa.  This particular rifle did not make that trip and it has been unfired since he purchased it.  Since our customer is not the original owner of the rifle, we can’t provide all of the details on its history but it’s certainly possible that the original owner never fired it either.  It really is that clean.  Our rifle is serial number G158630 and we believe it is a model from the mid-1990s.

The Winchester Model 70 Classic Super Express was made in New Haven, CT and contains a lot of the features that you’d expect from a high end, high quality, big game rifle.  The action is claw extractor controlled round feeding.  This type of action is known for its reliability, especially in challenging situations where that reliability is critical.

Our rifle is chambered for the powerful 416 Remington Magnum cartridge.  If you’re hunting dangerous game in the lower 48, Alaska or Africa, the 416 Rem Mag is a round that will do the job.  It is generally perceived to be the favored round in the 416 family.  This rifle will hold 3 rounds in the hinged floorplate magazine and another in the chamber.

The 24 inch barrel gives you plenty of velocity and range.  This one has a folding, adjustable rear sight and a hooded, high visibility fiber optic front sight.  The jeweled bolt action is silky smooth and the trigger has a clean break with no take up.  A manual safety is located towards the rear of the bolt,

The stock is a checkered pistol grip with a black cap on the grip.  A red rubber Winchester recoil pad sits at the rear of the buttstock.  Double anchor points are present for attaching your sling.

In terms of condition, the rifle looks amazing.  The bore is mint, the barrel is bright.  The beautiful, checkered wood is Near Mint.  The metal finish is Near Mint as well.  Ditto for the recoil pad . . . Near Mint.  Quite simply, this may be one of the very nicest, hard to find, Classic Super Express rifles that you’ll come across.  Please don’t just take our word for it.  Take a very good, detailed look at the attached photos and make sure that you agree that this is one beautiful dangerous game hunting rifle!

This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this rifle.  We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report.  As with all pre-owned firearms, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the rifle.
