Western Field was the trade name for a large number of rifles and shotguns that were sold through the Montgomery Ward retail network. The shotgun that we have on consignment is an M147 12 Gauge bolt action model. There is no serial number, nor is one required as the shotgun is a pre-1968 model.
This one handles 2-3/4 inch shells. It has a 28 inch solid barrel. We don’t know how this barrel is choked. There is a rear sight just above the bore and a brass bead sight at the muzzle end. A detachable magazine holds 2 rounds.
There is a manual safety just behind the bolt and this shotgun has an early version of what would become a loaded chamber indicator. When the bolt is cocked, you’ll see a red indication at the back side of the bolt.
The wood is in Good condition. There are signs of use and some scuffs but there are no major defects. The metal is also in Good condition. Much of the finish on the bolt has been worn off but the barrel and other metal components look good. The action is smooth, the bore is good and the barrel is bright.
This is not a high end shotgun and it’s not priced like one. This is just a vintage model that may make you remember days from the past and it won’t hurt your budget.
Purchase is for the shotgun only. No other items or accessories are included in the sale.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this shotgun. We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the shotgun.
