Wards sold a variety of "house brand" firearms that were typically based on other models that were for sale at the time. This Western Field 215A is a derivative of the Mossberg 85. Mossberg made the 85 from 1934 - 1940. Our gun has no serial number, nor is one required.
This gun is a 20 Gauge version, bolt action with a detachable box magazine. The barrel is 25 inches with a bead front sight. The barrel is threaded for removable chokes. A Mossberg full choke is included and shown in the photos.
The wood is in Good condition, shows signs of normal use but we find no cracks. The solid, black buttpad is also in Good condition with no damage. The metal is in Good condition as well, with some light pitting in areas but with most of the original finish intact. The bolt cycles smoothly, the bore is clean and the barrel is clean and shiny.
Overall, this is a good example of an inexpensive vintage shotgun of a type that you just don't see any more. Please take a good look at the photos and see if this would be a nice add to your collection at a bargain price.
Purchase is for the shotgun only. No case.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test-fired this shotgun. We have performed our function checks and find no issues. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the shotgun.
