You’re never going to confuse a Taurus PT-809 with a Sig P229 but that’s ok.  The PT-809 wasn’t designed to compete with the P229.  The PT-809 was designed to be an inexpensive, hammer-fired, high capacity 9mm pistol and that’s exactly what it is.  Some of us like the feel of a compact hammer-fired 9mm but don’t want to spend $1000 to get one.  The PT-809 checks that box nicely.  Our pistol is serial number TFT65617 and has all three matching serial numbers.

The 809 has a 4 inch barrel and comes with 17 round magazines.  It’s capable of firing in either double action or single action modes and has Novak sights and a loaded chamber indicator.  A 1913 picatinny accessory rail sits underneath the barrel.

The finish is blued and the grip is an extended grip.  Both the slide release and magazine release are fully ambidextrous.  The safety is also ambi and functions as both a manual safety and a decocker.  The pistol disassembles just like a Glock.  In other words, it’s an easy takedown.

This pistol is in Very Good condition.  The grips and frame are Excellent and the slide is Very Good or better.  It has a clean bore and a bright barrel.  If you’re tired of striker fired pistols and want to try out a hammer fired model, the PT-809 may be a very good fit for you!
