There are a few firearms that have gained iconic status through their use in movies. Among all of those, the Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 with 6.5” barrel may be at the top of the list as “The Dirty Harry” revolver. In 1971, Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry) said, “I know what you’re thinking: ‘Did he fire six shots or only five?’ Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is a 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do you, punk?” Well, we feel pretty lucky to have come across this beautiful revolver.
Ours is serial number N357479 and, according to Smith & Wesson, was manufactured in 1975, just a few years after Dirty Harry was on the big screen. Just like the revolver from the movie, this has a 6.5 inch barrel and is pinned and recessed. It has a beautiful blued finish and checkered wooden grips with the S&W medallion embedded in the grip. The revolver itself is in Excellent to Near Mint condition with just a very slight wear line on the cylinder.
The presentation box is in Excellent condition and the tools are present, as shown in the photos. Underneath the bottom tray, you’ll find the original owner’s manual, warranty cards and promotional material that Smith & Wesson shipped at the time. Even the waxed Smith & Wesson paper is present. We also have the original shipping box and a photo of the end panel is included. The box is in Average condition.
Overall, this is a beautiful, complete package Smith & Wesson 29-2 that you won’t often find in this condition. We think that the photos speak for themselves. So, as Clint might say, “Do you feel lucky?”.
