We come up with quite a few law enforcement trade-in pistols but we recently came across a batch of Sig Sauer P220 models that we hadn’t seen before. This P220 is chambered in 45ACP and has a capacity of 8+1. We've field stripped the pistol but have not fired it. Function check is correct, magazine and recoil springs are strong. See below regarding the lifetime guarantee. Don't chance it on other used pistols that aren't backed by this excellent added protection.
This particular pistol was manufactured in 2007 and spent most of its life with the Montclair Police Department in Montclair, CA. Serial number is G 379 814.
The barrel is 4.4 inches in length. An accessory rail is underneath the barrel for mounting of a light or laser. The pistol is a Double Action Kellerman and, while we have limited experience with that action, it has a very nice feel to it and we’re becoming fans.
3 dot night sights are installed and are very dim. That would seem to match with the age of the pistol. They do, however, function just fine as standard 3 dot sights.
Most of our Law Enforcement trade-ins come to us in pretty good condition and this one is no exception. The bore is very clean and bright. The barrel is very bright and the rifling is strong. The Montclair PD had this one equipped with Crimson Trace laser grips when it came to us. However, while the grips functioned correctly, they were very worn. We’ve replaced the grips with New standard Sig Sauer P220 black polymer grips. We’ll include the Crimson Trace grips with your purchase in case you want to switch them back. The frame and slide are in Very Good or better condition although there is some evidence of carry, as you’d expect in a duty pistol. The photos accurately show what we’ve described here so please review those carefully. This was likely an issued pistol but doesn’t seem that have seen either a lot of use or a lot of rounds fired through it.
Overall, this pistol has only minor cosmetic blemishes and looks to be in Very Good overall condition. Mechanical concerns should be no issue at all with the lifetime guarantee that comes with the pistol. A new Sig P220 will set you back right at $1000. If you can get one that looks this good, has a lifetime guarantee and saves you this much off the purchase price of new . . . why not take a good look?
