Wanting to get into the long range, big bore world of the 50BMG but don’t want to spend $7000 - $9000 to do it?  Check out this Near Mint BFG-50 as a low cost way to do just that.

This Serbu BFG-50 came to us as a consignment sale.  The owner states that he purchased it new but has not fired it.  Serbu rifles are made in Tampa, FL in the good ol’ USA.  Serial number on this one is 1874.

The BFG-50 is a single shot, bolt action rifle.  It has a 29.5 inch barrel and a Shark Brake muzzle brake.  Based on what we’ve seen, the Shark Brake does a very effective job of reducing the recoil of this powerful round.  In fact, we watched some videos of folks shooting the BFG-50 from the shoulder while standing and not appearing to have any trouble at all with the recoil.

Most folks, however, will shoot this rifle from the prone position and the attached, folding bipod is perfect for that.

The finish is a Parkerized finish, a heat shield extends forward from the receiver and a rubber recoil pad sits at the rear of the stock.  A picatinny rail is present for mounting your favorite optic.  The trigger and safety are an AR-15 style so the controls will feel familiar to most shooters.

The entire rifle is in Excellent condition although there are a couple of areas of discoloration on the parkerized finish.  The bore is Very Good and the barrel is bright.

If you want to get started in the 50BMG world, take s good look at this rifle.  Serbu sells this model today at $2595.  That’s a tremendous difference and makes this one so that the price won’t hurt your wallet and you can get started working on that one mile shot.
