Savage

This consignment sale Side by Side shotgun is a Fox B from Savage.  The Fox Model B was made by Savage from 1940 – 1988.  Our model has no serial number (nor was one required) and we did not see a date code.  We believe that this one was likely manufactured between 1940 – 1945 but can’t positively confirm that.

It’s a 12 Gauge model and handle 2-3/4 inch shells.  The barrel are 28 inches long and have a solid rib.  We believe that the barrels are choked Modified and Full.

The receiver features engraving on the left, right and underneath side of the receiver.  It has a double trigger and a tang mounted safety. The pistol grip stock has a black cap on the grip and the buttpad is a black plastic.

The wood is graded as Good but does show signs of normal use.  The bores are good and the metal finish on the barrels is Very Good.  The receiver does have some finish loss but grades as Good. 

Overall, this is a nice, vintage shotgun that has seen some honest use, just as it was designed for.  However, there’s a lot of life left in it and this workhorse is ready to go on your next hunt!
