The Ruger P89 models were manufactured by Ruger from 1992 through 2007. They were, essentially, an upgraded version of the Ruger P85 Mark II. Several varieties and finishes were included in the P89 line. Ours is the P89 DC as it includes an ambi decocking lever. Ours was manufactured in 1994 and wears serial number 309-04204.
Ruger had entered the P85 Mark II is the second round of military trials in 1988 and it performed extremely well, being beaten out only by the Army's final choice of the Beretta. These pistols were built to be reliable and solid workhorse pistols, in spite of the economical price. They're extremely well made with tight lock ups and outstanding accuracy. Don't let the low price fool you, these pistols are running machines.
Our pistol has a 4.5 inch barrel and functions in both single and double action. The decocker lever will safely lower the hammer without firing. There is no manual safety. The grips are a very comfortable Hogue rubber. The stippling is not overly aggressive but your hand easily maintains a good, firm grip. White 3 dot sights sit on top of the slide. A lanyard loop sits just to the rear of the magazine floorplate.
The grips are in Excellent condition. The frame is Excellent as well. The slide would grade as Very Good with some small spots of light wear on the left side. The bore is bright, it has a bright barrel and deep rifling. Overall, this pistol grades as Excellent condition.
If you're looking for a rugged, good quality DA/SA pistol that will put up with about anything that you want to throw at it without having a price that will put a dent in your bank account, then take a good look at this one. It's a shooter that you can really enjoy.
Purchase includes the pistol and (1) 15 round metal magazine.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired the pistol. We have performed all function checks and find no issues. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the pistol.
