Over the years, Ruger has made a number of versions of the Model 77. This consignment sale is a Model 77RS, which included iron sights on the rifle. Our seller reports that the rifle was manufactured in 1974 and we think that it probably looked the same then, as it does now.
This bolt action rifle is chambered in 338 Win Mag. The hinged floorplate covers a magazine capable of holding 3 of the Magnum cartridges to go along with the one in the chamber. The barrel is 24 inches long. The attached rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation while the front sight is a hooded ramp. The hinged floor plate aids in unloading the rifle without having to chamber and eject the unfired rounds. A manual safety sits atop the tang and is easily reached for both left and right handed shooters.
The blued finish is like new with no scrapes or scratches. The action is smooth and the trigger is light and crisp with a great feel to it. The barrel is very bright, the rifling is very strong and the bore is clean. We're fairly certain that the rifle has been fired before but we believe it has an incredibly low round count and has seen virtually no use.
The stock is a checkered walnut and is in near mint condition. A Ruger logo is in the grip cap. The stock ends in a red rubber recoil pad that is like new.
Overall, we'd grade this rifle as Like New. It's absolutely beautiful and would be a fantastic addition to any collection!
Purchases includes rifle and velcro closure soft case.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignment guns, we have not test-fired the rifle. We have performed all function checks and find no issues. As with all used firearm purchases, please carefully review all of the photos so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the firearm.
