This consignment revolver is an absolutely beautiful example of an early New Model Blackhawk.  While we can’t guarantee that this one has been unfired for the last 45 years, it sure seems likely.  This one comes to us from a customer that has been scaling down a collection from his grandfather and we’ve seen some incredible firearms come into the shop . . . including this one!

The revolver is chambered in 41 Magnum and has a six shot fluted cylinder.  The serial number of 41-12608, we believe, indicates production in 1977.  The Ruger model number is BN 42.  New Model Blackhawks have a transfer bar safety, a front sight that is a fixed ramp and an adjustable rear sight.  The walnut grips have the silver Ruger medallion embedded in the grips.

The grips themselves are like new, with no scratches, scuffs or handling marks.  They really are “like new”.  The cylinder shows only slight rotation marks and those should be expected whether the gun has been fired or not.  The interior of the 6.5” barrel is bright and the rifling is crisp and clear, just as we would expect.  The exterior of the barrel and the frame show no finish loss and no scratches.  The single action trigger is light and crisp with a very easy break.

Overall, we would grade this revolver as Like New and we think it’s about as close to its original 1977 condition as it could possibly be.  Finding revolvers of this age in this condition is rare and there’s no doubt that this one would be a fantastic conversation piece when added to your collection.

Included with the purchase of the revolver is the original, red, cardboard box from Ruger.  The box is not pristine and has had tape applied at one corner.  Within the box is the original, brown waxed paper surrounding the revolver, the original warranty card and the original Ruger instruction manual.

As with all of our consignment guns, we have not test-fired this one.  We have, however, performed all function checks and a thorough inspection and find absolutely nothing that needs addressed.  Just as you should with the purchase of all used firearms, please carefully inspect the provided photos so that you are completely comfortable with the condition of the gun.

Determined at checkout.
