This Ruger Mini-14 Ranch was manufactured in 1989 as a Model 01813, chambered in .223 Rem.  It's an extremely nice example of a pre-ban Mini-14.  The stainless finish and wood stock look fantastic and definitely set this rifle apart from a lot of other Mini-14 models.  The rifle is a consignment offering and we have not fired it but have function checked it and find no issues. Serial number is shown in the pictures but is in the 185 series.

With the help of Ruger's research department, we've also confirmed that this rifle was originally produced as a side-folder model.  While we can't positively say that this side folding stock is the original Ruger version, we believe that to be the case based on our inspection.  The finish of the stock looks as expected and matches the rifle.  The pistol grip appears, to us, to be the correct material as well.  The button that releases the buttplate is stiff but does function and would likely loosen up with use.  The side-positioned side sling swivel is also correct for the model.

This particular rifle has the characteristics and features that Mini-14 collectors search for.  Being able to confirm that this is an original side-folder model is a huge plus.  These models are rare, but absolutely gorgeous and an incredible addition to a firearm collection.  They've also been very popular with folks that need to purchase a pre-ban version.  Lately, we've seen some of these sell for over $2500 when they've been in a condition such as this one.

The wood stock looks like new.  There are two very small dents just forward of the mag well that are not through the finish.  We mention them only to be as complete as possible in our description.  The stainless finish would grade somewhere between excellent and like new.  There are no scratches and it maintains its fantastic appearance.

The bore is clean, the barrel is bright, the bolt cycles smoothly and this one looks like it could still be on the set of the A Team television series.  Overall, we would rate this rifle as excellent plus and probably couldn't be faulted if we called it "near new".  As with all used guns, you should carefully review all of the pictures to review condition for yourself.

There are a couple of items that we want to be sure to mention.  Those that are familiar with the Mini-14 would note that the heat shield that's on the forward part of the barrel and the flash suppressor were not part of the original rifle and they would be correct.  Those items, however, are included in the sale and the buyer can decide to either remove them and return the rifle to its original configuration or leave them as is.

This auction is for the rifle shown and one stainless 30 round magazine.  As there are no markings on the magazine, we would assume that it is not an original Ruger model
