When you look at this beautiful Remington derringer, you can almost see the poker player at the table in the early 1900s with this little pistol tucked into the pocket of his vest.  At least, that’s the image that we see when we look at this consignment derringer.

From 1867 through 1935, Remington made approximately 112,000 of these pistols based on the patent from William Elliot.  You may see them referred to Elliot’s O/U derringer, the Remington double derringer, the Model 95 or the Remington Model 95 derringer.  Over the course of the production run, there were no fewer than 17 different variations although the basic design remained mostly unchanged.

These pistols fired the .41 rimfire, had two barrels in an over/under configuration, a spur trigger, exposed hammer and either a 2 or 3 inch barrel length.  Ours is the 3 inch version.

We believe that this pistol comes from the 1911 production run.  Pistols from that year were numbered from 1 – 3000.  Ours is serial number 2063.  The single line on top of the barrel reads, “U.M.C.O.CO.ILION,N.Y.”  You may see this model referred to as the Remington Arms First Variation (1911).

One of the key components impacting value on these pistols is the top hinge.  On many of the pistols, the top hinge has been broken or cracked.  Based on our best examination, we do not see any evidence of cracking or replacement and believe that the hinge is exactly as it should be.

The nickel finish is in Excellent condition with only one very small spot of finish loss on the left side of the muzzle on the top barrel.  The pistol is beautifully engraved although we did not see the engraver’s name on the pistol.  The grips are a beautiful bone-type material and are also in Excellent condition with no defects that we were able to see.  The trigger, hammer, shell extractor and barrel release are a brass finish and we find so flaws on them either.

In summary, this is probably one of the nicest Remington derringers that we have seen.  If you’re a collector of pistols of this type, we think that you’ll be incredibly happy with this pistol.  In Excellent condition, it will look amazing in whatever way that you choose to display it.

Purchase is for the derringer only.  No other accessories are included in the sale.

This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this pistol.  We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report.  As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the pistol.
