Remington's 870 may be the most successful shotgun of all time.  You don't produce more than 11 million guns of a specific model without it performing as advertised.  You'll see 870 variations used in the military, with law enforcement, for home defense and, of course, it's equally as reliable when used for hunting.  The 870 just plain peforms and it comes at a price point that's easy on the wallet.

This particular consignment 870 is a 12 Gauge 870 Express Magnum model and can take either 2-3/4" or 3" shells.  The 28 inch vent rib barrel has a bead front sight.  The barrel is threaded for Rem Chokes and comes with one Modified choke installed.  That's standard for how Remington ships this model.  Capacity is 4 shells plus one in the chamber.  Barrel code is OR, which indicates probable 1997 production.  Serial number is AB703176M.

The action cycles smoothly and the dual action bars are one of the reasons that the 870 has such a great reputation for reliability.  The trigger is a nice, consistent 870 trigger with no take up.

The stock is checkered hardwood with a matte finish and has a Remington solid recoil pad.  The metal is a black, parkerized finish.

The wood rates as Excellent condition.  There are light signs of use as you'd expect.  The forearm does have a light scuff on the right side.  The receiver also has one light scuff on the left side and both issues are shown in the photos.  The Remington recoil pad is like new.  The wood rates as Excellent.  The metal is in fantastic condition and rates as Near Mint.  The barrel is very bright and the bore is very clean.

Overall, this shotgun rates as Excellent or better condition.  The 870 is such a reliable,versatile gun that it's always a good idea to have one in the collection.  Barrel changes are quick and easy if you need to switch out barrels for a specific purpose. 

Purchase includes the shotgun, installed choke tube and a zippered, padded case.
