This reliable, dependable Remington 7400 came into our shop as a consignment sale and brought a lot of history with it.  More on that in just a bit.  Our rifle wears serial number 8125841 and has a barrel code of AC, which would date the rifle as a 1982 model.

It’s always nice when we can get the backstory on a consignment firearm when it comes into the shop.  The owner of this one was happy (and probably rightly proud) to tell us about his rifle.  “It’s always been a good, reliable shooter”, he said.  “It’s taken 6 elk, probably 20 deer and a whole lot of hogs.  I’ve taught the grandkids to shoot with this rifle.  Sadly, the hunter wore out before the rifle did”. 

That’s the thing about the 7400 models.  If you took good care of them, they took good care of you.  If you wanted to put them away wet and dirty until next hunting season, you were going to have some extra steps before you could take them out again.  This one sure looks like it falls into the well taken care of category.  The bore is clean, the barrel is really bright and the rifling looks good.  The muzzle has no nicks or dings.  The wood and the metal are in Good or better condition but the rifle does shown signs of honest use, as it should.  Take a good look at the photos and we think that you’ll see what we did . . . a rifle in Good condition that’s been a faithful hunting companion and one that has a whole lot of life left in it.

The barrel is 22 inches in length.  The front sight is a ramp and the rear sight is adjustable.  A Charles Daly 3-9x scope is mounted and included in the sale.  Glass on the scope is clear and the reticle is sharp.  The magnification know is a little stiff but does work as designed.  Likely that will loosen up with use.  The magazine is detachable and an extra magazine is included.

If you’re after a reliable rifle in .270 Win, maybe one that you can use to teach the kids and grandkids, this one is worth a good, long look.  It’s proven its worth many times and it will continue to do that.  Take care of it and it will take care of you.
