This consignment sale comes from a regular customer who has brought us a number of vintage firearms in amazing condition.  The trend continues with this Remington Model 11 Sportsman.  Take the time to really look over the photos on this particular one.  It's an amazing find and in a condition that we'd rarely expect to see for a shotgun of this age.  The Remington model 11 shotguns were manufactured under a patent agreement with John Browning and you can clearly see the influence of the Browning A5 in the lines of this model.

This 16 gauge model has a 26 inch barrel with a fixed, modified choke.  It's chambered for 2-3/4 inch shells and a bead front sight sits at the end of the barrel.  A grooved rear sight channel is at the top of the receiver.  The RH barrel stamp on the left side of the barrel indicates production in November, 1939.  The proof/inspection stamp on the right side of the barrel is REP  1.  Serial number is 1532826.

The wood is American walnut and has a checkered pistol grip and forearm.  The wood shows minimal, normal signs of use with no major scratches, cracks or defects.  We'd rate the wood as Very Good and likely it would be considered Excellent.  The Remington buttpad is also in Very Good condition.

The receiver is attractively engraved on both the left and right sides and the engraving is very clear.  "The Sportsman" is engraved on the side of the bolt.

There is a minor "double" scratch on the left side of the receiver that can be seen in the photos.  Other than that blemish, the finish is almost entirely intact and has the same appearance as it originally did when manufactured.  The bore is bright and clean.  The barrel is shiny and mirror-like.

Overall, this shotgun rates as Excellent and we had a hard time believing that it was manufactured in 1939.  If you're a fan of the Model 11 (and there's a lot to like), you'll want to take a careful look at this one.  This may be the best example, in the finest condition of any Model 11 that you are likely to find.  It's truly a beautiful, vintage shotgun.

Purchase includes the shotgun and soft case.

This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired the shotgun.  We have, however, performed all function checks and find nothing to report.  As with all used firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the shotgun.

Determined at checkout.
