Mauser bolts, receivers and actions may still be some of the best built firearms components of all time.  That's probably why you continue to see folks seek out weapons that still incorporate those components.

This particular consignment rifle comes to you from World War II.  It was manufactured in 1942 at Waffenwerke Bruenn in Bystrica, Czechoslovakia and is correctly stamped dou.  The top of the barrel is stamped 7.91 but that is likely the exact dimension as these rifles are chambered for the 7.92 x 57 Mauser round.  The barrel is 23.6 inches and the rifle contains a 5 round, fixed box magazine.  The safety is the standard Mauser 3 position safety.  The rear sight is adjustable to 2000 meters and the front sight is hooded.  A bayonet lug is underneath the barrel.

The bolt action is smooth.  The trigger has a slight take up and then a firm, consistent wall.  All of the visible parts that we could see have matching numbers except the stock.  The stock is a replacement with a different number but we believe to be correct for the time period.  The bore is good, the barrel is bright and the rifling is clear.

The stock is in Fair condition.  Candidly, it shows signs of normal military issue and use, including some "trench art" on the right side of the buttstock.  Please see photos.  The stock does, however, appear to be structurally sound even though it is not beautiful and pristine in appearance.  The metal shows normal signs of surface oxidation in certain areas, primarily on the top of the receiver and on the top of the barrel, forward of the handguard.

Overall, this is a Fair (possibly Good) condition German military surplus weapon from World War II with lots of useful life remaining.  It's definitely not one that you should skip past without taking a good look.

Purchase includes the rifle and leather sling as shown.  Sling is of modern production.
