Marlin

This Marlin 336 came in to the shop as a consignment sale and it's a real head-turner from the first glance that you get.  The serial number of 19111267 would indicate that it rolled off the Marlin production line in 1981.  It probably still looks about the same as it did then.  It's truly in amazing condition!

This model 336 has a 20 inch barrel with micro-groove rifling.  The bore is clean, the barrel is very bright and the rifling is extremely crisp.  The barrel also has the very desirable JM stamp.  The rear sight is adjustable and the front sight is a hooded ramp.  The action is smooth and the gold trigger has a crisp, consistent break.  The hammer has a partial cock position for safety.

The wood is in Excellent, or better, condition.  We find no scrapes, scratches, gouges or dings.  It's a beautiful finish as you'll see in the pictures.  The Marlin buttpad is also in Excellent condition.  The black cap on the pistol grip does have one small scuff.

Overall, we think that this is probably one of the best examples of a vintage Model 336 that we've seen come through the shop.  If you're after a 30-30 from Marlin that was manufactured when quality was truly top notch, take a good look at this one.  In both function and looks, this one won't disappoint!

The metal finish is nearly perfect.  The pictures will also show that to be the case.  The only fault that we could find with the metal finish is that the edges of the lever do show signs of very slight use.
