Marlin

These Marlin Model 5510 models - The Original Super Goose 10 - are hard to find and harder to find in the condition of this one.  Serial number of 21633256 would indicate production in 1979.  The highly desirable JM stamp is located on the left side of the barrel, just forward of the receiver.

The bolt action is fed by a two shot, detachable magazine.  These models will accept 3.5" Magnum 10 Gauge shells, have a 34 inch barrel, front and rear sling swivels and a manual safety.  The gun weighs approximately 10.5 pounds.

The barrel and receiver have virtually all of the original finish with no major scratches, scrapes or nicks.  Overall, the metal is in excellent condition.  The wood has various handling and use marks with the most noticeable being on the right side of the stock just forward of the bolt and on the underneath side of the forearm.  We'd grade the wood as very good.  The Marlin bullseye is on on the underneath side of the stock just behind the grip.  The Marlin rubber recoil pad is in excellent condition.  The action is mostly smooth and would likely smooth out even further with lubrication.  The barrel is bright and the bore is clean.

Overall, we'd grade the shotgun as very good + and think it's a beautiful example of a hard to find shotgun.  This is a memorable piece and a great add to your collection.
