This J.C. Higgins Model 101.7 is a variant of the Savage Stevens Model 311 that was made for Sears, Roebuck & Co.
A 20 gauge side by side, it has a 28 inch barrel, two triggers and a front bead sight. The wood is in excellent condition with the exception that we note one minor surface crack on the left side. See picture but this does not appear to affect the structural integrity of the stock. Otherwise, just honest wear.
The barrel retains most of the original finish with minor wear at the muzzle. Receiver has no rust but little original blueing. The trigger guard has some scratches and little original finish.
The gun could benefit from a good cleaning and needs lubricated but function checks ok. This is a consignment item and we have not fired it.
Overall, this is a very nice example of an older model double barrel that can still bring down birds today.
