Ithaca Gun Company

This beautiful, near mint Ithaca recently came in as a consignment sale and it's an incredible find!  The Ithaca Mag-10 was the world’s first 10 GA semi-automatic gas-operated shotgun chambered in 10-gauge (3½"). The CounterCoil system built into the front of the magazine tube reduced the recoil from the round to allow easier second shots but cut the magazine size in half to 2 shells.

This model chambers 3.5" 10 Gauge Magnum shells.  Serial number is 10002932.  The barrel is the 32 inch vent rib variety.  A bead front sight sits at the end of the rib.  Barrel is not threaded for interchangeable chokes.  The breechlock is stainless steel.  The gun is gas operated and has a push button safety.  Metal is a beautiful matte finish.  The stock is walnut and is non-checkered.

The receiver is like new with no marks or scratches.  The barrel is near mint with two minor exceptions.  A small, light, 1/8" scratch is on the right side of the barrel, just forward of the bolt.  That one is only visible from certain angles.  There is a 1/4" spot of finish loss on the underneath side of the barrel about 8" from the muzzle.  We mention these only to be complete in our description.  The barrel is bright and the bore is shiny and clean.  Candidly, we're not certain that this one has ever been fired but we can't state that for sure.  Whether it has or hasn't, it looks brand new.

The wood is near mint and just gorgeous, as you can see in the photos.  The ventilated Ithaca recoil pad is in near mint condition.

Overall, we'd rate the entire gun as near mint.  We see these models for sale from time to time but they are nearly always well used, with the wood and metal reflecting that.  We do not often see this model in this condition.  It's a fantastic find and a gun that's capable of throwing a lot of shot for a long distance, capable of bringing down the largest birds.  This one won't disappoint!
