There's a lot to say about this Model 37 Featherlight but let's start with the obvious. This is a beautiful, eye-catching Model 37 Featherlight with really attractive wood. While they really don't make them like this anymore, you'll also be hard-pressed to find one that looks as good as this one.
Our Model 37 Featherweight is a 20 Gauge model with a 2-3/4" chamber. The barrel is stamped as a Modified choke. Serial number is 371133873. This version also has the Cutts compensator with a screw-in choke. The choke in the compensator is also a Modified. Barrel length is 22 inches and the total length including the compensator is 26 inches. A gold bead front sight sits on top of the compensator. These are bottom ejection models, which helped keep dirt and moisture out of the barrel and bore. The receiver is engraved on both sides. The stock and forearm are checkered.
The wood on our model is absolutely beautiful with a very attractive grain. The pictures don't lie on how attractive it really is. A Hogue recoil pad in great condition sits at the end of the buttstock. A black Ithaca cap is attached to the pistol grip. The wood itself is in Excellent condition. The metal rates as Very Good and possibly a bit better than that. Other that some light use marks on the receiver and normal, light use marks from the pump action, the metal looks fantastic as well. The action cycles smoothly, the barrel is very bright and the bore is clean and shiny. Total weight on the shotgun comes in right at 6.5 pounds and won't wear you out as you carry it in the field.
Overall, this is an Excellent condition Model 37 Featherlight. Another fantastic design by John Browning, the Model 37 has a well-deserved reputation for reliability. This particular shotgun throws good looks in on top of that reliability. If you're a fan of great looking vintage shotguns, this one won't disappoint.
