The High Standard H-D military pistols have long been known as fun plinking pistols. They're very accurate and just plain fun to shoot. You'll see some of these around and you'll also see some that are in pretty good condition. What you don't often see are ones that are legitimately Near Mint WITH the original box and instructions. In almost all other cases, the pistols have been well used and the boxes and instructions have been lost to time.
Our pistol has the 4.5" barrel and checkered walnut grips. The serial number of 213935, based on our research, indicates likely manufacture in 1947. The rear sight is adjustable and the magazine capacity is 10 rounds.
Our pistol also comes with an additional 4.5 inch barrel. We're not sure why the prior owner had the extra barrel but it's a tremendous value add to a pistol that was already pretty special. The extra barrel is pristine and Like New.
The grips are in Excellent condition and show only minimal signs of use. The bore is clean and bright. The barrel is very bright and the rifling is crisp and sharp. The barrel that's on the pistol has only the very slightest signs of wear. There is likely 98% or more of the original finish remaining. The frame is Near Mint.
This pistol and everything that comes with it is truly a rare find for all of the reasons that we mentioned earlier. Describing a 1947 pistol as Near Mint is a rarity but, as you review the photos, we think that you'll agree that this is a special find. If you're a fan of this model, we don't think that you'll find a better one to add to your collection.
Purchase includes the pistol as shown, extra barrel, (1) 10 round magazine, original box, original warning card, original rear sight adjustment instructions and original parts diagram and instructions.
This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this pistol. We have performed our function checks and find no issues to report. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the pistol.
