Harrington & Richardson

This consignment sale is for a Harrington & Richardson (H&R) Model 158 Topper.  Ours is a 20 Gauge version with a 3 inch chamber and a fixed choke.  The receiver is a very attractive case hardened finish.  H&R produced these from 1962 - 1973.  The serial number of AL274927 would indicate likely production in 1973.

The 28 inch barrel has a bead sight at the front.  The barrel is bright and the bore is clean.  The barrel is blued and is in Excellent condition, with nearly all of the original finish intact.  The case hardened receiver is also in Excellent condition and retains almost all of its color.  The receiver really has a fantastic appearance.  The gun locks up tight and breaks open and moves freely. 

The wood is a satin finished walnut with a pistol grip stock.  Both the stock and the forearm rate as Excellent condition as well with no major scratches, scars or defects.  The H&R vented, red rubber recoil pad also rates as Excellent.

Overall, this shotgun has a great look, especially with the combination of the satin finished wood and the case hardented receiver.  It would be tough to find this model, in this condition and at this price.  If you're a fan of vintage shotguns, take a good look at this one.  You won't be disappointed.
