Glenfield

Glenfield was a division of Marlin Firearms and were often similar to models that bore the Marlin name.  In this case, the Glenfield Model 30A is, essentially, the same rifle as the Marlin 336.  In fact, this Glenfield rifle bears the same desirable JM barrel stamp as its Marlin cousins.  Our serial number of 22085717 would indicate that this is a 1978 model.

Our 30-30 rifle has a 20 inch barrel with a brass bead front sight and an adjustable (but non-folding) rear sight.  There is no safety except for the half-cock position of the hammer.

This rifle has a single barrel band and the forend is topped with an end cap.  The checkered, pistol grip stock ends in a Pachmayr White Line ventilated recoil pad.  Ours has the rear sling swivel but is missing the sling swivel located in the forend.

The wood has aged gracefully in the last 47 years and is in Very Good condition.  The metal finish is equally impressive and rates as Very Good or better.  The bore is clean and the barrel is in good shape as well.

This is a very nicely aged Glenfield rifle that has a lot of life left in it.  If you’re a fan of Marlin lever guns and prefer the older models, take a good look at this one.  Vintage, good condition and a reasonable price!
