Colt

This consignment revolver is one of the early Colt double action models. Labeled as the Model 1877 and chambered in .38 Colt, these models came to be known as the Lightning.

Our model has serial number 106855 and all three serial numbers match. The barrel is 4.5 inches long. The left side of the barrel is marked "Colt D.A. 38". The Colt logo is also stamped on the left side of the frame just below the cylinder.

The 6 shot cylinder features long fluting, holds 6 shots and has an ejector rod.

The hard, checkered grips also feature the Colt logo and are in Very Good condition.  The left panel has 3 "notches" etched into it.  See photo.  There is some wear evident on the left panel.

Both double action and single action movement appears to operate correctly.

Most of the finish has been lost to age as would be expected. However, while there is some slight pitting,, we find no rust on the revolver. Please review the photos and confirm that you see it the same as we do.

The bore appears to be in Good condition and the barrel is bright with good rifling.

This is a very nice example of a vintage, early double action revolver and would be a fantastic display piece for your collection.
