Colt

This consignment sale is for a Colt 1849 Pocket Model and is of the First Type in the Colt production run.  It was manufactured in 1860 and has serial number 171000.  The serial number is marked in four different locations and all four of the numbers match.  Colt produced this line of revolvers from 1850 - 1873.

The five shot cylinder is chambered for 31 cal.  This is a percussion revolver.  The octagon barrel is 5 inches in length.  A loading lever sits underneath the barrel.

The trigger guard and grip stap are brass.  The grips are smooth wood.

The wood grips are in Very Good condition with the exception of one small chip in the base of the left grip.  The wedge above the loading lever is loose but likely can be adjusted via the screw just above the wedge.  There is minor pitting on the revolver and that is not unexpected.  The majority of the finish is gone but we find no rust.  The original stagecoach scene on the cylinder is no longer visible.  The loading lever is slightly loose in that some right-left movement is evident when in the locked position.

Overall, this very old revolver is in Good or better condition and is a great remnant of times gone by.
