This consignment gun is a very early model Browning A5 16 Gauge semi-automatic shotgun with a 26" barrel.  The John Browning designed A5 has been one of the longest produced, highest selling shotguns of all time and they continue to have a strong following among both collectors and hunters.

We have not fired this consignment gun but all function checks are correct.  Like all used guns, please review the photos carefully so that you're comfortable with the condition of the shotgun.

Serial number on this A5 is 18272.  That would place it as an early 1925 manufacture date.  The serial number on the barrel matches the serial number on the receiver as well.  It was manufactured in Herstal, Belgium.

The gun has an adjustable poly choke.  The wood on the forend would rate as good with some wear on the checkering from use.  The buttstock shows honest use and would rate as fair to good.  We see no cracks in the stock.  It's in good, solid shape but also has wear on the checkering of the pistol grip.  The receiver shows light wear at the edges.  Manual safety is mounted in the front of the trigger guard as was standard on all A5 models from that time frame.  The trigger is light and smooth.  The barrel shows normal finish loss for a gun of this age with an additional area of finish loss on the underside of the barrel just forward of the receiver.  The screw heads show no signs of use.

If you're looking for an early production A5, this gun is worth your time to look over.  In addition to the gun and the adjustable poly choke, a soft case is provided to protect your investment.
