Images of James Bond (the early version . . . pre-Walther PPK) popped into our head when this Beretta 418 came to us as a consignment sale.

This pistol is the Italian made version of the 418 and carries serial number 83270A.  It has the Italian proof marks that you’d expect to see and has a 1953 proof stamp.  Like all of the 418s, it’s chambered for 6.35, known as .25ACP here in the United States.  The 418 was sometimes marketed in the United States as the “Bantam”.

The barrel is 2.25 inches and the pistol operates as a straight blowback design.  A manual safety is on the left side of the fame and there is an additional grip safety.  A cocking indicator is on the rear side of the frame.

There are some areas of surface oxidation (primarily in the slide serrations) and these are evident in the pictures.  The grips are in Good condition but there is some wear, mostly on the left panel.  The bore is clean and the barrel is bright while the rifling appears to be good.

As an example of a long-running pocket pistol (or a throwback to the early days of James Bond), the 418 is a nice add to any collection.  While not pristine, this pistol is priced accordingly and is certainly worth a good long look.

Purchase includes the pistol as shown and one magazine.  No other accessories are included in the sale.

This is a consignment sale and, like all of our consignments, we have not test fired this pistol.  We have performed our function checks and find no mechanical issues.  As with all pre-owned firearm sales, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the pistol.

Determined at checkout.
